Playground Jiu Jitsu community
Est. 2019

Built By
Brothers.

Playground Jiu Jitsu was built by brothers. Paulo and Vinícius Canabarro started training in 2009, earned their black belts in January 2017 under Tim Burrill and Master Carlos Machado, and opened this academy in East Providence in 2019. Everything here exists because of that journey.

Before opening these doors, they spent years competing professionally on the IBJJF circuit — testing themselves against the best in the world. That experience shaped how they teach, what they value, and the standard they hold for every student who steps on these mats.

They're on the mat every single day — the same black belts who built this place are the ones teaching your class. That hasn't changed. It never will. Playground isn't just a gym — it's a community built by people who love Jiu Jitsu and believe it changes lives.
